Hubert Larouche founded Lion Electric in 2005, with a goal to provide not only superior electrical services but also great customer service. Born and raised in the Region of Saguenay Lac St-Jean, Quebec. He graduated in 1985 with honors as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician.
Hubert gained his experience by working for a large Electrical Contractor in Quebec that serviced many different facets of the electrical industry. His experience in industrial and commercial jobs such as Sawmills has enabled Hubert to become an expert in electrical complexities in variety of industries and situations. His drive and passion for what he did afforded him a promotion to Crew Chief and not long after a supervisor.
His goal was to open up his own business so he may continue to share the passion of his work with his family and customers. After gaining the required experience in the business, he went on to get his Master Electrician License. He started his own business in 1996 in Alma, Quebec. Faced with a struggling economy in the construction industry in Quebec, he, along with his wife, Martine, decided, to move their business and family to Mississauga, Ontario. Lion Electric was founded in 2005, rooted in family values and with a mission to provide superior quality service ensuring a safe environment for his customers. He hasn’t looked back since and continues to grow his business and passion, bringing on his son David and soon to be son-in-law, Justin into the fold.
Hubert takes pride in the work he does and provides superior technical expertise, leadership and strong customer service in all his commitments. These values, along with his utmost professionalism, sets Lion electric apart from the rest in the business. When you first meet Hubert, his passion for his work, genuine nature and friendly disposition are quickly evident.
Giving back to community
Giving back to the community is important! We firmly believe that it's our responsibility to help and contribute to our community and the growth of it. Lion Electric sponsored the Erin Mills Eagles Girls soccer team from 2006 to 2011 and the Erindale Hockey Association from 2011 to 2015. It made us proud to see our name behind the jerseys of these sports teams and to know that in some little way we've helped contribute to their growth in soccer, hockey and life.
Lion Electric also proudly supports the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Hubert’s brother passed away at the young age of 20 from heart disease. As a result of this, giving back to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and supporting their cause is a passion of ours.
Electrical Trade has been a passion in the family for over 3 generations! The passion has continued on to his son David who is currently in college studying Electrical Engineering. His father and uncles were all in the trade and were very good electricians. His cousins, like Hubert, continue in the electrical business and trade.
Hubert is a strong family man and brings these family values to his business. He has the strong support of his wife Martine, who is the Administrator for the business. His son David and son-in-law Justin are both pursuing careers in the Electrical Trade.
His two daughters, Catherine and Alexandra although not directly involved in the business, provide him the much needed variety and support. Family and friendships are the cornerstone of his business.
Lion Electric holds an Electrical Contractor License (number 7002360). Hubert holds a Master Electrician License (number 6003158) Electrical Safety Authority Toronto, a license 309A – Electrician – Construction and Maintenance (Interprovincial Standard Canada), a certification of SIMDUT Information system for hazardous materials used at work and a Lift truck License.
